When the grid goes out, a properly-sized standby generator senses the outage and starts in about 10 seconds — keeping HVAC, refrigeration, well pumps, and medical equipment running automatically.
Fogle & Sons Electric installs whole-home standby generators in Columbia, SC and the surrounding Midlands. We're a licensed South Carolina electrical contractor (SC #CLM111551) and a Generac authorized dealer, installing Generac and Kohler units with automatic transfer switches on propane or natural gas. We schedule same-day or next-day, offer financing as low as $89/month (subject to credit approval), and answer at (803) 691-8852.
We offer flexible financing options for larger projects so you can get the work done now and pay over time.

Both are good. Generac has wider dealer support in South Carolina and parts availability. Kohler tends to run quieter and has a slightly longer transfer-switch warranty. For most Columbia homes we install Generac unless you specifically prefer Kohler — we sell and service both.
Yes — most residential standby generators are dual-fuel-capable. If you have a natural gas meter we'll plumb directly to it. If you don't, we install a 250- or 500-gallon propane tank (we coordinate with the propane supplier).
Depends on what you want to power. A 14 kW unit covers essential circuits (HVAC, fridge, well, key outlets). A 22 kW unit covers the entire house including electric range and dryer simultaneously. We do a free load calculation before quoting.
About 10 seconds. The automatic transfer switch (ATS) senses the utility outage, signals the generator to start, waits for it to stabilize, then transfers the load — all without you doing anything.
Annual service: oil + filter change, spark plugs every 200 run-hours, battery replacement every 3 years. Most homeowners do roughly 8–20 run-hours/year (including the weekly self-exercise), so service is cheap. We offer annual service plans.
